Throughout the match, Brazil dominated possession, holding the ball for 70% of the first half and managing five shots on goal. Ecuador, however, had their chances as well, hitting the post twice in the first half, both times from Moises Quecedo. After the break, Brazil continued to press but could only manage one shot on target.

In the second half, Rodrigo’s team managed to get just one shot in Ecuador’s camp. Overall, Brazil had 57.4% of the ball, while Ecuador had 42.6%. However, Ecuador was more aggressive than Brazil. Ecuador’s aggressive play made it difficult for Brazil to find their rhythm and create effective attacks.

Defensively, goalkeeper Alisson made important saves. Especially in the final minutes of the game when he stopped Cacedó’s free-kick and John Mercado’s header.

With the win, Rodrigo’s team now move up to fourth place in the South American qualifiers with 10 points from seven matches. They are behind Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia who are leading the points table. Rodrigo’s team next match is against Paraguay, where they will aim to build on this momentum and continue their quest for World Cup qualification. Brazil will face Paraguay in their next match on Wednesday 11/09/2024 in Asuncion at 6:30 am Bangladesh time. Where Paraguay and Uruguay drew goalless in other matches.
