Actress Ahana Rahman and young actor Jaher Alvi are acting together in a new drama called ‘Jowtuk’. Zaher Alvi wrote in promoting the play, ‘Jowtuk’ is released following the success of “Talaq”, “Kabin”, “Kapal”, “Vidaya”, “Widow”, “Sukher Sansar”, “Parinam”. .’

‘Dowry’ is a major event in the development of the main characters of the play which drives the plot of the play forward. A dispute over dowry arises between the central character of the play Dulal and his family members.

Dulal’s father Azgar Sahib and mother Fatema Begum demanded dowry for her marriage. Dulal stood against this demand. His friend Sallu and teacher Master Sahib support him. They encouraged to fight against dowry system. Family members threatened not to let Dulal marry if she did not get dowry. This conflict serves as the main event of the play and plays an important role in the development of the characters.

  3. Fatema Begum: 40 years old, Dulal’s mother. He strives for family peace and happiness.
  4. Champa: 16 years old, Dulal’s sister. Feels the pressure of dowry for her future marriage.
  5. Rahim Mia: 50 years old, Dulal’s relative. He discusses the custom of dowry within the family.
  6. Achia Banu: 42 years old, mother of Champa. He worries about Champa’s demand for dowry for marriage.
  7.  Master Sahib: 45 years old, village teacher. She tries to create awareness against dowry system in the society.
  8. Sallu: 28 years old, Dulal’s friend. He supports Dulal and encourages her to fight against dowry.
